Castrol EDGE announces major sponsorship of Gold Coast's premier sporting event on the streets of Surfers Paradise

Castrol EDGE was announced as the naming rights sponsor of Queensland’s largest sporting and entertainment event which this year will be taken to new levels on, and off, track.

The iconic Gold Coast 600 returns to the world renowned Surfers Paradise street circuit this October and for this, and the following two years, will be known as the Castrol EDGE Gold Coast 600.

Castrol continues to broaden its investment in V8 Supercars from teams to events and the series itself as the championship’s official oil.

Castrol is investing into the continued growth of the sport which has become an iconic part of Castrol’s DNA and through new event sponsorships will look forward showcasing the brand at both a national and community level.

Castrol Australia Marketing Director Diana Hall said the Castrol EDGE Gold Coast 600 was an iconic event for Castrol to partner with to reap substantial exposure from the broadcast and at-track offerings.

"As the Official Oil of the V8 Supercars, Castrol is both proud and excited to be the naming rights sponsor for what will now be known as the Castrol EDGE Gold Coast 600 – one of the most exciting and dynamic rounds in the V8 Supercars Championship," said Hall.

Castrol EDGE is proud to be the official Oil Partner of the V8 Supercar Championship

Today we are proud to announce a new and exciting sponsorship which will see Castrol EDGE as the official Oil Partner of the V8 Supercars Championship.

Throughout decades of motorsport sponsorships we’ve shown that we’re passionate about sport, great performances and about winning. This sponsorship will provide us with a highly relevant asset to communicate our commitment to Australian motorsport and our technology leadership and pioneering brand positioning.  

This partnership will see the Castrol brand representing the premier V8 Supercar event in North Queensland as the new naming rights partner for two rounds in the V8 Championship, the first being the Castrol Townsville 500.  The second round will be the subject of a separate announcement.

To accompany this, the current Teams’ Championship will be renamed the Castrol EDGE Teams’ Trophy.   As the official oil sponsor, Castrol will be embedded in the minds of customers, consumers and fans alike, through on track branding at each of the 2014 V8 Supercar circuits.  

In addition, the Castrol EDGE logo will adorn the V8 Supercars latest telecast concept, an official kilometre counter during each of the live races across the Seven Network.

The sponsorship is a multi-year partnership and a powerful property that will allow us to continue to grow the Castrol EDGE brand and develop closer connections with the V8 Supercars and the motorsport fan base.  We are really looking forward to building on our success through this new partnership.
